PRISON BREAK: HOW EVANS PLOTTED TO ESCAPE BY OFFERING POLICE GUARD $100,000

Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, alias Evans,an alleged kidnapping suspect, plotted to escape from police custody before his arraignment in court, it was learnt at the weekend.

A source spoke of Evans’ plan to give between $50,000  and $100,000 to one of the guards manning his cell to facilitate his escape.

The source said Evans was allegedly coordinating his escape bid with some members of his gang by telephone which he obtained through “suspicious” means.

It was learnt that intelligence officers and IGP’s Special Tactical Squad detected his plot.

The source said: “When Evans was in our custody, he tried to escape but we were able to abort all his plans. We discovered that he had access to phones which were hidden in the middle of loaves of bread, eba, semovita and so on.

“He was making calls from these smuggled phones in the middle of the night, making arrangements with some yet to be identified members of his gang to arrange for his escape.

“We intercepted how he was luring one of the guards with about  $50,000 to $100,000. He wanted an insider to serve as informant to him and members of his gang.”

It is important to note that after months of hide and seek, Evans was arrested by  police on June 10 at No. 3, Fred Shoboyede, Magodo, Lagos. He is standing trial before an Ikeja High Court for alleged conspiracy and kidnapping alongside five other accused persons namely: Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba.

MAN WHO HELPED RECAPTURED 'CHILD KILLER' IFEANYI DIKE REWARDED N1 M AS PLEDGED + HOW HE WAS CAPTURED (PHOTOS)

Thomas Gwom, the man who gave information that led to the re-arrest of suspected ritualist/child killer, Ifeanyi Dike has received the N1 Million pledged by the Commissioner of police.

Ifeanyi Dike had allegedly raped, killed and removed vital organs of an eight-year-old girl, Victory Chikamso, before escaping from police custody with the help of Policemen who have been dismissed from service and are facing trial.

Here are photos of the Commissioner of police redeeming the force’s pledge.

HOW IFEANYI DIKE WAS RE-ARRESTED

Mr Dike,he didnt know it was the wanted Ritualist ........He posted this before the Police announced Mr Dike had been captured...

This is Mr Dike After he was recaptured after Mr Gwom beat the living dazlights out of him....

Hello Stella, I am S****** and also a BV, cousin to the victim of Ifeanyi Dike the ritualist that raped and killed the 8 year old girl in Rivers State. Below is the account of what happened between my cousin by name Thomas Gwom and that Ifeanyi. Pls help us get this out there for people to know what is going on.

This was his first post but by then we didn't know it was Ifeanyi the wanted guy. This happened in Barkin-Ladi Local Government, Plateau State.

Ifeanyi Dike after receiving good beating

''I want to thank all my friends and well wishers who wished me well during my ordeal.... But I need to mention this because it will shock those who know the story. The Person who broke into my home intending to steal and basically murder me was none other than the ritual killer "Ifeanyi Dike".

The wanted criminal who escaped custody in Port Harcourt for killing and raping an eight year old girl and removing parts for rituals. He came to my home town over two weeks ago and basically found a free room in one of our laundry rooms that wasn't used and stayed there without anyone's knowledge for sometime, until he got the boldness to attack me in the early hours of the morning this past Tuesday, that lead to the capture of this notorious criminal who almost basically stabbed me to death after a long struggle for about 25 minutes and I overpowered this animal.

My greatest surprise in all this is that after bringing this animal to the police the police now went on air and are claiming responsibility for efforts that wasn't theirs without acknowledging the sacrifice I made by getting myself stabbed in the face.Ifeanyi Dike was caught in Barkin Ladi Local Government in early hours of 7am on the 5th of September and I Thomas Gwom is the one who caught him and am ashamed to look at this police force taking credit and shouting over the media''

BILLIONAIRE KIDNAPPER EVANS REPORTEDLY VANISHED !

According to a report be Saturday Sun, billionaire kidnapper, Evans has vanished from police custody and taken to an unknown location. Read their report below...
Saturday Sun has gathered that Evans is not dead as his family now fears but has been moved from the Lagos police command headquarters cell by about 30 heavily armed men at midnight few days ago to an undisclosed destination. Some senior police officers in the know told Saturday Sun he was moved to Abuja Indeed, in the last few days, a palpable silence seemed to have enshrouded the Evans phenomenon.

Where is Evans? It is a question the police is not prepared to officially answer right now. A man who hitherto divulged the details of his criminal life to the public almost on a daily basis is suddenly no longer accessible to even the press corps. All a Saturday Sun reporter who visited the state police command was told was that Evans is no longer allowed to talk to the press till further notice.
The secrecy surrounding his whereabouts in the official quarters baffles those who have closely followed his story since his arrest.

After days of sniffing around the Lagos police formations to get information on Evans whereabouts, it was gathered that the kidnap kingpin had been moved out of the Lagos command headquarters days ago by heavily armed policemen and is yet to be returned.
Police had last week said they had got a court order to detain him for three months to give them enough time to complete their investigation. This followed two suits filed by Evans lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje, at the High Court seeking his release and claiming N300m damages from the police. Some senior police officers who spoke to Saturday Sun on condition of anonymity expressed fears that Evans might not make it to the court.

They argued that he might plot his escape from prison, or get across to some of his members who are still on the run. Their concerns are not farfetched, given that several inmates in the past had reportedly committed much heinous crimes even while in prison.
Some of the officers confirmed that Evans was no longer in the police cell in Lagos. “He has not been returned since he was moved out. Evans is a broken man; police can’t resort to extra-judicial killings at this point. He is cooperating, and he is ready to help return all his ill-gotten wealth as soon as possible”, one of the officers said.

Another reliable source at the police command told Saturday Sun “Evans is not an ordinary criminal. I guess that they took him out for further investigation but I don’t know why they are yet to return him to his cell.” The source further assured: “No one is planning to kill Evans. I believe that they will return him later. He could be in any good cell in the state for security reasons, but I can assure you that he is not dead yet. Even if anything happens to him, if he dies in custody, it will be as a result of cancer which he claims he is suffering from.”

MAN IMPREGNATES HOUSEMAID...STRANGLES PREGNANT WIFE

The Plateau Police Command on Thursday confirmed the arrest of a 40-year-old man, Victor Dashit, who allegedly strangled his eight months pregnant wife, Irene.

“Victor is in our custody and investigation is on-going. We shall soon take him to court,” its spokesman, Terna Tyopev, said in Jos.

He said that Dashit, a staff of the National Industrial Court, Jos who resides at New Abuja area of Jos, killed the wife, a 33-year-old teacher, at their farm in Kangang, on June 2. The investigation revealed that Dashit, after killing the woman, invited his brother to help him to convey her to hospital after lying that she slumped few minutes after she complained of feeling dizzy.

A family source said that prior to the incident, the couple had faced lots of problems leading to persistent domestic violence. He said that the situation got worse in May 2016, when the deceased caught her husband in bed with their house help, one Nora, in their home.

“The woman woke up one night sometime in May 2016 and did not see her husband on the bed. “ After combing the entire house, she peeped into the house help’s room and found her husband on her,” the source said.

He said that Irene sent the girl out of the house, but the girl came back two months later and told the husband that she was pregnant.

“Nora’s pregnancy aggravated the problems in their marriage; at a point, Irene fled to her parents’ house in Gindiri, but was persuaded to return to her husband’s house by their Pastor. “The Pastor persuaded her to return in November 2016, after intervening in the quarrel. She became pregnant immediately. She said that Irene had two daughters, while the baby, a male, removed from her womb after she died, did not survive. A source at the Air Force Military Hospital, Jos where Irene’s corpse was taken, said that the Dashit who brought the wife on June 2, had claimed that she slumped and died after complaining of dizziness.

“The doctors confirmed her dead on arrival, but rushed her to the theatre for an emergency CS in a bid to save her unborn baby but brought out a dead child,” the source said. Further investigation by the medics, however revealed marks on her neck, which suggested that she was strangled.

“The doctors quickly reported the matter at the Anglo Jos police station where Dashit owned up to strangling his wife,” he said. Tyopev, while describing the incident as “unfortunate”, blamed the development on alleged infidelity, saying that Dashit had equally confessed to impregnating his housemaid. “He confessed to holding the woman by the neck, but said he did not intend to kill her,” he said.

162 DUBIOUSLY REGISTERED SIM CARDS RECOVERED FROM EVANS~~POLICE

A senior Police officer has disclosed that 162 phones lines have been recovered from suspect.

The officer who pleaded anonymity said;

"More discoveries have been made during investigation. On Wednesday, we discovered that Evans still had 36 more SIM cards outside the 126 lines we already have.

He has 11 phones, including a Thuraya and 2 Vertu phones, valued at N2.4 million and N2.6 million, respectively. That was why it was very difficult to arrest him because the two phones can operate without SIM cards.

That is the kind of phone the Boko Haram terrorist group is using in the desert. All the 162 lines are operational lines, except one that is for his immediate family. We are working on the new lines and phones. .

Turaya is a satellite phone. In Nigeria, we don't have the capability to track Turaya. He used the three phones for his nefarious activities. We succeeded in tracking him through the other phones he has."
He went further to disclose that SIM cards used by Evans complicated the challenges posed by the sophisticated phones, as he bought SIM cards registered from miscreants in Computer Village, Ikeja.

"We studied and analysed 162 SIM cards before we caught him. We have about two-page analysis of each of the numbers. He used 161 of those numbers to call his gang members only and used one to call his mother, wife and sister.
He said he bought all the SIM cards already registered in Computer Village for N1,500 each. We picked his sister, his childhood friend with whom he attended primary school, and four of his girlfriends.

They gave us the information that led to his arrest. Evans confirmed that they didn't know he was into kidnapping. Because of that, we granted them bail, while investigations continue" he said.
Another source confided that aside from a camp in New Igando, where Evans kept his victims, operatives had uncovered two other camps, which would soon be visited.

POLICE WOMAN IMPLICATED IN EVANS 2006 BANK ROBBERY IN LAGOS

Suspected kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeje George Onwuamadike (aka Evans) has confessed that a gunshot scar on his shoulder came from the injury he sustained during a 2006 bank robbery in Lagos.

This is contrary to his earlier claim that he got the injury during a fracas following a drug business in South Africa in 2007 !

Evans, who was confronted with a newspaper interview that indicated the scar was as a result of a gun duel between him and his gang members at the National Theatre in Surulere, Lagos Mainland, admitted that he lied earlier.

According to the suspect, he and his gang members robbed a bank in 2006. While sharing the loot, there was a disagreement, which led to a fight.

He admitted that they started shooting themselves, adding that many of the robbers died. He was seriously injured and abandoned by the others.

The kingpin also admitted that he was arrested by the police, adding that he and two  others were transferred to the Imo State Police Command, where they were released.

The officer in charge of the Inspector General of Police’ (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), said:

“Evans was confronted with the interview on Sunday and he admitted that the bullet wounds are from disagreement over sharing of loot after bank robbery in Lagos in 2006. They shot one another and many gang members died while Evans survived with bullet wounds.”
A Superintendent of Police with the Band section of the Police College in Lagos, simply identified as Tina, reportedly sought to get the case being put together against Evans after the bank robbery dropped. Her attempt was rebuffed.

She reportedly travelled to Owerri from where a report was sent requesting the transfer of Evans to the command because of another case he was involved in, which they claimed was under investigation.

The kingpin was quietly released in Owerri. Tina is believed to be related to Evans’ mother.

The Nation reports that the police were out to fish out all those who participated in the 2006 release of Evans and two of his gang members. They are to be prosecuted.

A source told them:  “It is true that they have started looking for that Tina woman and many other officers who were serving at the Imo State Command at that time that Evans was released. So many heads will roll in this matter.”

"WE ARE UNDER PRESSURE TO RELEASE EVANS"~~POLICE

The Lagos state police authority says that the force is being pressurized to released billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alias Evans, Daily Trust reports.

Acting Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Galadanshi Dasuki while addressing news men at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja yesterday, said that the Police won't release Evans, inspite of calls from different quarters to do so.

“Evans has been a kidnapper for a long time and has been on the wanted list of the Police in Anambra, Abuja , Enugu, Edo and Lagos states. He also has a criminal gang, some of whom have been arrested in Enugu and Lagos. But there are still more out there. Therefore, this needs a painstaking investigation. Besides, we need to under study him as well as debrief him. By so doing, we intend to use his tactics to get others. He will eventually be charged to court after investigation is concluded”

NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPER EVANS OBTAINED GHANAIAN PASSPORT UNDER FAKE NAME 'ASARE NELSON'~~IGP IDRIS

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has revealed that Nigerian billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, also known as Evans, did not only fraudulently secure a Ghanaian passport, but also acquired one for the wife and two of his children.

The IGP was speaking in an interview with Ghanaian medium, Joy News, where he disclosed that Evans was issued a Ghanaian passport this year under a fake name, Asare Nelson in Accra.

The Ghanaian passport was found on Evans during when he was arrested on June 10 in his home in Lagos.

According to the news outlet, the IG revealed that Evans’ wife and two children are also in possession of Ghanaian passports.

He explained that the Nigerian passport of his wife bears the name Uchenna Precious Onwuamadike issued at the Abuja passport headquarters while her Ghanaian passport bears the name Precious Asare born sometime in July of 1985.

The children’s passports also bear the last name Asare all issued in Accra, according to Idris.

A document signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Abba Kyari and presented to the IGP revealed that Evans has moved his wife and five children to Ghana because of the nature of his business.

IGP Idris also revealed that the kidnapper’s residence in Ghana is located at the Spintex Road in Accra and that the duplex structure is where Mrs. Uchenna Precious Onwuamadike resides with their children.

He said the Nigerian police is very interested in the case because Evans kidnapped people and took ransom in United States dollars.

He said he will collaborate with the Ghana Police Service because Evans’ acts go beyond the shores of Nigeria.

Idris said, “I requested for my force in Nigeria to send me some documents to share with the IGP to show him the locations of all his property in Ghana as well as copies of his passports.

“Evans owns two big plush duplexes in Accra.”

“I hope Ghanaian police can take the fraudulent acquisition of passport up to block people like him from acquiring Ghanaian passports through dubious means,” he said.

According to the IGP, the documents available to them so far revealed that Evans’ victims are all Nigerians.

POLICE OFFICER DISMISSED 21 YEARS AGO RE-INSTATED

A police officer from Akwa Ibom State, Celestine Williams who was wrongfully dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force 21 years ago has been re-instated thanks to a petition submitted on April 13, 2016, to the Senate by the senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, for his re-Instatement.

In a petition submitted to the Senate through Senator Albert, Celestine Williams, then a corporal, said in 1996, he was listed in the police daily order to join the team that investigated a highly placed Nigerian businessman, who later used his connection to frustrate his arrest and got Williams and his colleagues arrested and manhandled.

According to him, they were arrested and taken to Lagos and detained for 11 months at Onikan Police . When the then AIG Alhaji Musa Isa (now retired) went to Onikan Police Station on visiting rounds, he ordered their release after listening to their side of the story. However, when Celestine and his colleagues got back to their stations, the new Officer in Charge refused their re-documentation, and decided that they should no longer be paid until they clear themselves from the top..

According to Celestine, all attempts to get him re-instated failed even after there were two signals from the police authorities signifying that he was illegally dismissed without trial.

This was the case with Celestine for over 21 years when he he wrote Senator Bassey Albert to intervene and press on the police authorities to re-instate him.

In a petition submitted to the Senate by Senator Bassey Albert and dated April 13, 2016, the distinguished senator requested the senate to intervene in view of the fact that the police wireless message attached to his request reveals that the appellant was not tried but dismissed for an undisclosed offence. The Senate later referred the matter to its committee on Ethics, privileges and Public petitions for further investigations. The committee after its investigations recommended the re-in statement of Celestine Williams and his promotion from the rank of corporal to the rank of ASP, which is the current rank of his mates in the police force.

A highly excited Celestine today visited Senator Albert to thank him for his doggedness in seeing to his re-instatement., and prayed God to continue to lift him from glory to glory.

"MY MOTHER KNEW I MADE MONEY MILLIONS FROM CRIME"~~~DEADLIEST KIDNAPPER (EVANS) REVEALED

The ‘deadliest and most brilliant’ suspected kidnapper, Mr Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike aka Evans, yesterday, stunned journalists and policemen when he openly confessed that his mother knew he made his wealth through crime.

Evans was arrested at his Magodo Estate mansion, Lagos State after being hunted by police for seven years.

Evans was arrested along with some of his members identified as Nwosu Chikodi Chukwuma 42, aka Sudo, Suoyo Paul 42, aka Nwana, Felix Chinemerem, 36, Ikenna Emeka 28, Uchechukwu Amadi, and Ogechi Amadi.

Chinemerem is alleged to be the second in command of Evans’s gang. Chukwuma is the third in command in the gang. He allegedly has over 20 years’ experience in armed robbery and eight years’ experience in kidnapping. Chukwuamadi, another member, was described as Evans ‘boy’ and allegedly heads the detention camp in Igando.

Ogechi is the woman who cooks for the kidnappers and their victims. Paul allegedly supplies rifles and ammunitions to Evans. The gang is alleged to be connected to the late notorious kidnapper, Benjamin Osinachi aka China.

Evans and China worked together in the abduction of the Chairman, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Kehinde Bamigbetan in 2013. They also kidnapped a Federal High Court judge in Lagos, among other prominent figures.

Just like China, Evans wife and five children are based in Ghana. China was later killed, along with his six members at Seme Boarder in fatal gun duel with SARS operatives.

Presenting the suspects before journalists yesterday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, listed some of Evans’ victims as Mbarikatta William Uboma, Paul Cole, Director with Ocean Glory Commodities, Apapa, Mohammed Jamal, a Lebanese, Kingsley Nwokenta, Anthony Ozoanidobi, Leo Abraham, Ojukwu Cosmas, James Uduji, Chief Raymond Okoye, Uche Okoroafor, Elias Ukachukwu, Francis Umeh and Donatus Dunu just to mention a few.

Evans said that his billions and property did not only come from just kidnapping. He said he was also into drug trafficking. He had once been shot in South Africa. He treated the bullet wound at Cape Town.

Explaining why he went into kidnapping, Evans said: “I have abducted about 10 victims. I can’t remember everything I did or those I abducted.  I was importing spare parts, when Nigerian Customs officers impounded my goods worth over N20million. It’s not only kidnapping I do, I’m also into drug trafficking.”

The suspect, who dropped out of secondary school while in junior secondary school (JSS2), said: “Police were able to catch me now, because it was time for me to be caught. I control my operation through phone. I have people that watch the victims. Chinedu, Eyis and Kingsley used to get targets.
“I collect ransom in dollars because it’s my choice. I don’t how much I have made so far. I don’t work with any politician, police or army. I got the weapons I used in operation from Chinedu. I met Chinedu at Ago Palace, in a beer parlour. But it was Kingsley who introduced me into kidnapping. He is now late.”

Asked how many bank accounts he has, he said one, with GTB. He denied that the account was a domiciliary one. Asked what he does with his dollars, he responded: “Nobody stays at home with money. Once we get it, we give it to the owners.”
He, however, refused to mention the owners.

According to him, his mother knew he was into crime, but she doesn’t support it.
Although his buildings at Magodo, Lagos State had people gasping in shock because of their size and worth, Evans said they were small compared to his buildings in Lagos.
Police have only discovered his two buildings in Magodo, another in Igando and a hotel in Festac. He also has buildings in Anambra State, where he allegedly used in keeping his victims hostage.

His words: “I started kidnapping in 2008, in Anambra State. It was from there I moved to Edo State. My mother does not come to my house, but she knows that I am into crime. She just doesn’t support it. I bought this house for N130million. I have two houses in Magodo.

“I kidnapped three persons in Anambra State. In 2010,   we kidnapped Director of Dan Odiete. We collected N100, 000. The men who did the job with me were from Warri, Delta State. I kidnapped another victim and collected N10million. I moved to Lagos in 2013. I really don't know the names of people I have kidnapped in FESTAC Town. But if I see any of my victims, I will recognize them and I’ll be able to tell how I abducted them.”

Asked how he used to get his targets, Evans said: “I have people who used to give me information about my victims. I don't know where I can reach anybody, but they usually call to give me information. We only meet when it’s necessary. When it’s time to meet, I call and give them location. When we are going for operation we wear army uniforms.”
Evans said that since he embraced kidnapping, operations had always been smooth until he and his gang abducted the multi-millionaire pharmacist, Mr Donatus Dunu.

Evans said: “The pharmacist job was the only one that gave us problem. The highest ransom I have collected since I started kidnapping is $1million dollars. I collected it from victim we abducted in Festac. No, I don’t work with Niger Delta militant kidnappers.”

The suspect, who used to keep his victims in captivity between six to seven months, waiting to collect the complete ransom said: “I keep my victims for months because I want their families to pay the complete ransom I demanded. I have people who used to cook for my victims. One of my men, Uche, stays in the house with the victims. Another of our men stays in the house with Uche and the victims. I usually pay Uche N20million for every successful operation.”
Evans said that once his gang abducts victims, he does the negotiation himself.

“I have six boys in Lagos working for me. My house in Ghana is bigger than this my mansion. In our operation, we don’t kill,” said Evans.

Speaking on his gang’s attempted abduction of the owner of Young Shall Grow Motor, Chief Vincent Obianudo, in Festac Lagos, on August 2013, Evans said: “It was five of us that went for the abduction of Chief Vincent Obianudo. Uche and Hutch man were killed. Nnamdi, Nwoke and I survived. I was the person that drove on that day.”

‎Moshood further noted: “The Joint Special Forces led by the Intelligence Response Team, the Lagos State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Technical and Intelligent Unit of the Force under the supervision of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, commissioner on June 10, 2017 swooped and raided the criminal fortress of Evans. He is the leader of a highly organized kidnap for ransom syndicate and criminal gang terrorizing and responsible for several kidnap of prominent Nigerians in Lagos State, including the western, eastern, south-south and some northern states.  “His gang members are spread across these mentioned states. After an intense gun battle between the gang members and police, the police over powered them. His gang members were used as bait to catch him in his Magodo Estate, Lagos State.”

The image maker noted that Evans as first declared  wanted in August, 2013 after he masterminded the attempted kidnap of chief Vincent Obianudo, owner of the Young Shall Grow Motors, in Festac, Lagos. In that operation, a policeman attached to the victim foiled the attack and killed three of Evans’s gang members. The policeman, however, lost his life in the process.
After that confrontation, some of Evans’s gang members were arrested, but the suspect escaped. Evans regrouped with several gangs and became more vicious.

Moshood disclosed: “Evans and his gangs keep their victims in Lagos area at House No. 21 Prophet Asaye Close, New Igando, Lagos State until the ransom is paid.  Ransom money is paid to him in millions of dollars. Some victims are kept for upward of six to seven months until the last penny is paid.  He never reduces his tagged ransom money.  None of his gang members know his house.”

PHOTOS: MISSING POLICE OFFICER BURRED WAS ALIVE ON THE ORDER OF TRADITIONAL RULER IN LAGOS

Musa Sunday, the detective attached to the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State Police Command, who has been missing since last November has been found buried in a shallow grave in Ibeju Lekki.

It's been discovered that Inspector Sunday, was abducted, tortured and later buried alive while on illegal duty, guarding a land under dispute at Ibeju Lekki.

Sunday and four of his men were alleged to have been drafted to guard the land by their Admin Officer (AO), at Ibeju Lekki without the knowledge of the Officer in Charge of SARS (OC) and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni. The father-of-four, with children aged 4,6,8 and 12, was reportedly trying to save a civilian guard from hoodlums when he was attacked and kidnapped while his men escaped.

Two men had been struggling for possession of the land. One of the men, identified simply as Prince, went to the SARS Admin Officer, who happened to be his friend, and asked for some officers to be assigned to guard the land for him and prevent his opponent from encroaching on the land. The Admin Officer (AO) then drafted Sunday and four other policemen without going through the proper channel of informing the OC SARS or the Lagos State Commissioner of Police. Sunday, the other policemen and some civilian guards drafted by Prince had been guarding the land for months when hoodlums employed by Prince's opponent stormed the land. Several people from both factions claiming possession of the land have been involved in fights for months which have led to several deaths.

In November last year, hoodlums from the other faction reportedly came with a bulldozer. Some of the thugs from the other faction attacked Prince's thugs and a fight ensued. Prince's faction was overpowered and one of his thugs was taken. Sunday went back to save the man and he was captured while other policemen working with Sunday and the man he just saved escaped. The Inspector's number became unavailable after he was abducted and his family members went to the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, demanding to know what had happened to him.

His colleagues who escaped reported that they immediately went to Mobile Police Force (Mopol) 49, Epe for help in rescuing Sunday but nothing was done. They then went to Akodo Police Station but the DPO said she couldn’t send anyone to the area because it was a volatile axis. From there they reported to SARS, Ikeja, and for five days, no action was taken to rescue Sunday. Later, policemen started looking for Sunday. They went to Bonny Camp, Victoria Island in their search for him but the soldiers said Sunday wasn’t with them. When the OC SARS went to meet Owoseni, to inform him of the missing inspector, Owoseni demanded to know the person that deployed Sunday and his men on the illegal duty.

Sunday's phone was eventually tracked through the efforts of the Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) operatives and that led them to Sunday's alleged killers. It was then discovered that Sunday had been tortured, starved for five days and when his men did not come after those days, they took him to the traditional ruler who instructed them to bury Sunday alive. At least five people, including the traditional ruler known as Baale have been arrested in connection with the murder. Investigation revealed that the attack and burial of Sunday was led by one Mr Balogun who is now on the run.It was Balogun who tied his hand before burying him.  Balogun's second in command, Arokin, has been arrested and it was him who confessed that Sunday was buried alive.

The suspects led police to where Sunday’s rifle was buried and also to the traditional ruler who denied knowledge of Sunday's murder. Baale was invited to the police command but rather than honour the invitation, he ran to Police Force Headquarters, Abuja but was told at Abuja to go back to Lagos and respond first to police invitation. Pathologists from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), who exhumed Sunday’s corpse said that it looked as if he was buried with his hands tied behind.

New Telegraph reports that Sunday's wife Halimat, 27, and her children are now suffering and she can no longer afford to pay their school fees. The widow, who is a housewife, lamented the lack of support from her husband's colleague and said that her children still look forward to seeing their father. She said the fateful day of the incident, she spoke with her late husband around 4 pm and he promised to come home the following day. When at night, his kids asked to speak with him, his number was no longer available and it's been that way till date.
“They were deployed there to maintain peace. We learnt that hoodlums were attacking a man, so my husband and his men moved to rescue the man. He told the other two policemen to go and put the man in the car so he could be safe.  The hoodlums pounced on my husband and took him away. Sensing danger as the hoodlums kept increasing in number, his men ran away. Since then, we have not heard from him.

“Three months after, police kept telling us that they were on the matter. We learnt they have arrested the Prince that hired the hoodlums, but nothing has happened since then. His children keep asking after him. His aged mother, who has high blood pressure, has not stopped asking for his whereabouts. We don’t know what else to tell her.”
She added:
“Nobody from the police cared to check on us, and now we don’t have money because we don’t have access to his ATM pin. I want my husband to come back. The children are suffering, and I can’t carry the load alone.”

TRADITIONAL RULER ARRESTED AFTER SUPPLYING FOOD TO THE KIDNAPPERS IN EPE,LAGOS

A traditional ruler, otherwise known as ‘Baale,’ has been arrested by policemen trying to rescue the six abducted students of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe.

The Baale was said to have been arrested while coming out from the creeks after supplying food to the militants who were holed up in the waters.

According to a security source, the Baale has been handed over to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni. The number one policeman in the state is quizzing the suspect himself.

The arrest of the Baale has infuriated the leader of the militants, identified as America, leading to his reeling out several threats.

Incidentally, it was America that led the abduction of eight from the Nigerian Turkish International College (NTIC) in January this year. He’s also suspected to be the brain behind the abduction of six students from Model College, Epe.

Spitting fire, America was said to have alerted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in charge of Epe Police Station, to get ready, that he and his men were coming to attack the station soonest.

A police source: “Whenever any of their members is arrested, they’ll know. It’s because of the arrest of the Baale that the militants called the DPO Epe; they said they would be coming to wipe out his station. It’s believed that Ijaw policemen, Ijaw soldiers and Navy are working with these militants. They are the bad eggs that communicate every move and strategy to the militants. This is part of the reason it’s hard to stop check the militants.”

Meanwhile intelligence report says that the same America is planning to carry out a bank raid this week.

“According to Intelligence report, America and his men are planning to attack a bank. They have already picked the bank. They are likely to strike this week,” said a source.

On Friday, there was a protracted gun battle between militant kidnappers and policemen. The militants were alleged to have injured seven policemen, including SO (Station Officer) in charge of Marine Police. The Marine Policemen, who first engaged the militants in the gun duel, were able to injure many and also sank two gun boats of the militants. The militants fled, only to return with overwhelming number of re-enforcement. They doubled crossed the marine policemen from different angles and attacked them, leading to the seven wounded policemen.

The marine policemen were later supported by teams of policemen from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State and Anti-kidnapping.

Some policemen, who partook in the gun battle, have described it as mother of all battle.
This was even as they recounted that the battle witnessed their guns running out of ammunition, while those of the militants were still smoking.

A source said: “It was a bloody day. The militants used their gunboats to block Epe River. Nobody was allowed to pass. They stationed three gun boats, in three strategic places. Nobody dared to go closer to them.  Policemen were looking at the militants and they were looking at the policemen. The militants were in full camouflage. They tied red bands on their forehead. They were dancing, jubilating and making mockery of the policemen. They repeatedly beckoned at the policemen to come forward if they could. In the heat of the attack, marine police called its Ogun State counterpart; they said they didn’t have ammunition. I heard Navy was called, but they didn’t come. Soldiers came, but left while gun battling was still on. They said since it was on water, there was nothing they could do.

“The SO Marine was seriously injured. All injured policemen are attached to marine. Marine police took the militants unaware on Friday, injuring and probably killing many. The battle was on top of water. Marine police used two gun boats, while militants brought three gun boats. Marine police sank two of the militants’ gun battle before they returned with re-enforcement. The militants were too many and well-armed. They robbed private canoes and passengers.

BLOODY FESTIVAL@ IBEJU-LEKKI : POLICE INSPECTOR AND TWO BROTHERS HACKED TO DEATH DURING MASQUERADE FESTIVAL

A police inspector and two brothers were killed at the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State on Saturday during Kilajolu Festival.

The clash started after some youths from Ilagbo Community and Oriyanrin Town fought at Kilajolu Festival at Ilagbo. Two brothers were killed in the mayhem and many others injured. A police inspector, who responded to distress call, was also hacked to death.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, explained that the clash started at a masquerade festival, between two youths from different communities.

Youths from Oriyanrin town were alleged to have started causing trouble just as the festival was about to start. Elders of Ilagbo Community were said to have chastised and sent them away.

The Oriyanrin youths, angry at being sent away from the festival, allegedly laid ambush for some Ilagbo youths. They pounced on the boys who were returning from the festival and hacked one Ismaeila to death.

The late Ismaela' s brother, identified as Matanle, who went to evacuate the remains of his brother, was also hacked to death.

When the mayhem erupted, some residents were said to have sent a distress to the nearest police station.

The police inspector and other policemen were drafted to the scene. The rampaging crowd pounced on the policemen. Others escaped, but the inspector was not so lucky. His corpse, which was later retrieved, was covered with machete cuts.

The murder of the two brothers angered Ilagbo youths. The Ilagbo youths carried out reprisal on Oriyanrin community, burning houses, vehicles and property valued millions of naira.

One of the residents, Mr Moriu Made described the incident as unfortunate.
He added: “In fact because of my I'll health, I couldn’t run when the youths from Ilagbo invaded our community. They burnt my house and that of my younger brother's. Houses of some other residents were also burnt. I don't know where to start from. My family members have run away. I’m the only person left in the community. I have not eaten for three days. Government should please provide adequate security for us."

A 102-year-old man was also sighted, abandoned in the deserted community.
Owoseni warned the residents against communal clashes, adding: “We will make sure there is no reprisal in the community. The traditional heads need to do something. The elders in this community should be ashamed of themselves. The police helped you to settle clashes, but you went ahead to kill an inspector. If you’re not careful, we’ll accuse you of using policemen and your community members for rituals. This will discourage investors from your community will your children will suffer from.

"Nothing stops you from organizing a vigilante group with the police. Instead, your children go behind to kill policemen. Policemen also have families. You know the solution. If you don't want peace to reign, we will handle it with force. You need to give us assurance that you are ready to defend your community; security starts with you. You’ll never see policemen carry guns in civilized countries, except in a community where hoodlums are rampant. You should establish cordial relationship with investors to enjoy corporate social responsibility, not kill.”

Owoseni further added: “Every religious leader has a role to play. If you don't stop it, it will spread. You should continue to utilize the same wisdom you have always used in keeping the community calm. We’ll keep doing our best in chasing militants away from your community, but you are starting an internal fight, instead of joining hands with us to combat them. A boy was killed by youths from Oriyanrin community and his brother, who went to rescue him, was also hacked to death. When the brother was attacked, it was at that point that a distress call got to the police. Our men were deployed to the community to restore normalcy. We have had discussion with the community leaders to help us with information on how to arrest the culprits that caused this sort of carnage.”

Owoseni disclosed that two persons have been arrested in connection with the carnage in the community.
